Thanksgiving morning in the Texas hill country was a little cold. We made it to the stand about 30 min before daylight. NSAA was used when we left the truck and also when we made it to the ground blind. When morning came we started seeing a little movement. A few Does and some Turkey. The Does stayed so long that I started to let him shoot one of them.
As I was setting up the gun for a shot on the biggest doe Dylan saw some movement about 100 yards out. That is when the little 10 walked out.
I really did not think we would get a shot on this deer, the wind was not in our favor.
But the deer kept coming. The deer came within 65 yards of the blind. We set the gun up and I let Dylan look through the scope. I was helping him support the gun. I was trying to whisper in his ear about where to place the shot, but in mid sentence he squeezed off the shot. We were lucky that the deer gave us a good broad side shot. The deer dropped without moving at all.
Thanks to NSAA my 5 year old son was able take his first deer.
A nice Texas hill country 10 point.
